Gabriele Porretto

Career

Having completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Florence, Gabriele Porretto was research fellow at the International Law and International organisation Department, Faculty of Law, University of Geneva from 1997 to 1998, where his research bore on the role of regional organisations in the maintenance of international peace and security.

Thereafter, he obtained a Masters degree with a specialization in International Law at the Graduate Institute of International Studies, Geneva.

In 2002 he obtained his Ph.D. in International Law from the University « La Sapienza », Rome, with a thesis on the universality principle in the domestic prosecution of crimes of international law.

In 2002, he worked at the Centre for Studies of the Hague Academy of International Law in the field of international criminal justice.
